We presented our project ‘El camino de la almazara’ at the COAA

Last February 12th, we presented our project ‘El camino de la Almazara — the adaptation of a former oil mill and washhouse space and the regeneration of its natural surroundings — at the COAA, the Official College of Architects of Aragón, at its headquarters in Zaragoza.

At the event, where we participated on behalf of our team formed by Carpe and mha arquitectura as winners of CRU VI, our colleagues from Abez also attended. They were the winners of CRU VII with their project “Entorno a la romería”, which will soon begin construction in Betxí. Both teams were invited by the Ceramic Promotion Section of the Provincial Council of Castelló, which organized the event in order to present CRU IX in new territories.

We were able to present both projects to encourage architects from Aragón to take part in a competition that supports the regeneration of urban spaces in municipalities across the province of Castelló. This initiative focuses on recovering degraded areas and transforming them into more livable, accessible environments that are attentive both to their surroundings and to the people who inhabit them, using ceramic materials from companies in the province as the main element of the proposals.

It was wonderful to share the experience of a project that has brought us much joy and that, beyond its final result, has been an opportunity to work with care for the place, its memory, and its landscape. “El camino de la Almazara” is one of those projects that grows gradually, in dialogue with what already exists and with the people who will inhabit and walk through it. Being able to tell its story, revisit the process, and see the interest it generates was undoubtedly a very special experience and a reminder of why we love doing what we do.
